Dysmorphia Series

Katie explores her bodily experience in oil paint. She is interested in how people connect with and view the female form.

As the title suggests, Katie is interested in the way we individually view ourselves. She plays with the idea of body dysmorphia. She imagines that if we reject society’s expectations of the body, we can find beauty in the abstract forms rather that criticise ourselves when we don’t meet expectations.

Katie deconstructs the female body within this series. She removes the identity of the face or outline of the body, distorting the skin colour and shape. Her aim is to create something that explores the beauty of female curves, inviting audiences to see their own body as a beautiful landscape of skin, curving and folding into shape.

Exhibition at Surface Gallery Nottingham 1/12/23 - 16/12/23
